This necklace celebrates peridot, sometimes called chrysolite. Peridot is a yellow-green transparent variety of olivine. It is one of the few gemstones that occur in only one color. Peridot is one of only two gems (the other one is diamond) observed to be formed not in Earth’s crust, but deep in the molten rock of Earth’s mantle. Gem-quality peridot is rare on Earth’s surface due to alteration during its movement from deep within the mantle and weathering at the surface. The peridots in this necklace are faceted and have nice juicy green color and clarity, ranging in size from 4mm – 10mm. They are dangled gracefully on a sterling silver chain with heart links extension for added versatility. All metal is sterling or fine silver that has been oxidized and hand polished.
